So here is my short story. I was able to pick out my chair for this show during the sound check. I picked right in front of the microphone like I prefer. It was a great place to watch. I laughed about someone’s comment about seeing up his nose. I told them I once took pictures of Robert Palmer in 1978 that his dentist would love for his dental file. I was that close. I still remember that show. It was awesome.

I want to thank my pal Tess Mangum Ocana at the Arts Center. http://www.artscenterlive.org Tess knows her music and I really respect what she has done with this venue. I enjoy just talking to her for a few minutes as I visit shows here. She is very special. This place continues to prosper and be a showcase for awesome artists. Great job Tess.

So. The show.I have seen the Big Machine as Lindsey calls it. Fleetwood Mac. I was a fan even when Bob Welch played guitar. I have promoted this band since I was very young on the radio. They still rank as one of the greats in the rock music world.

This was my first experience with the solo “small machine” as Lindsey called it. I got the impression he enjoyed this night as well as any he had ever played. Most songs ended in a standing and very loud ovation. He deserved everyone of them. It was that damn good. He stood there and told a story, then he would hit a note kicking into a series of solos that really at times just took my breath. He would lean to the front of the stage literally two feet from me picking with only his fingers and fretting four fingers wide without even opening his eyes. He would sing the vocals with such intensity that he seemed to be beyond even standing there. It felt like an out of body experience. At times I would just look and think “Is this really happening?”

Honestly I had a buzz after this show. That doesn’t happen to me very often. The last time I really remember it was a Van Halen show that rocked me really good. It is one of those that you feel when you wake up and start thinking about what you saw, heard, and felt.

I told Lindsey that last night. I didn’t bog him down too long. His daughter was texting him from afar and it came to me as I watched him on his iPhone that he is just like the rest of us. He has a life. He just has a very special talent. I wished him safe travels until the next time.

I can’t explain what happened last night. I have said that before. I was there. I felt it. I smiled and thought how lucky I am to enjoy great music like this from so close. Yeah I work at it. I relish every moment. I feel it. It is damn good. Yeah baby!

Until next week, I’ll see you, down the road.

A song from last night. I sung every word of it softly to myself. Lindsey explains it in this video just like last night. He is such a poet when he speaks. I really like that.

Big Love

Looking out for love
In the night so still
Oh I’ll build you a kingdom
In that house on the hill
Looking out for love
Big, big love

You said that you love me
And that you always will
Oh you begged me to keep you
In that house on the hill
Looking out for love
Big, big love

I wake up alone
With it all
I wake up
But only to fall

Looking out for love
Big, big love
Just looking out for love
Big, big love

Here is another one Lindsey played:

I really should be saying goodnight
I really shouldn’t stay anymore
It’s been so long since I held ya
I’ve forgotten what love is for

I should run
On the double
I think I’m in trouble
I think I’m in trouble
I think I’m in trouble

So come to me darlin’ and hold me
Let your honey keep you warm
Been so long since I held ya
I’ve forgotten what love is for

I should run
On the double
I think I’m in trouble
I think I’m in trouble
I think I’m in trouble
I think I’m in trouble
