Here are my tickets from the John Mellencamp and John Forgety show Tuesday night. These seats were awesome. Second row center. And the show…whew…It was in Charlotte at the Verizon Wireless Amplitheatre which is just down the road from the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The temperature was 106 degrees when we pulled in the parking lot and 91 when we left right after 11 PM. There was no bottled water in the place after the first set! What a concert. This was one of the best shows I have seen in a long, long time. The show had a brief opening set from Stoll Vaughn. http://www.stollvaughan.com/typo3/index.php (nice job Stoll) John Fogerty came out and smoked through his set. What a jam! Green River, Midnight Special, Lookin’ Out My Back Door, Deja Vu, Rollin’ on a River…his show was worth the price of admission alone. And then Mellencamp comes out! His stage was very cool..a tiered setup with old stage lighting. His band played relentlessly. One song would finish and a few seconds later they would hit it again. Most of his players have been with him for 10 or more years and you can tell it when they play. Words really can’t do this show justice. If you can go see this tour just do it. I will never forget this show and the special moments of that evening. ‘Nuff Said.
