Jim Lauderdale!

Jim Lauderdale

Jim Lauderdale  http://www.jimlauderdale.com  on stage the other night at Mack and Mack on Elm Street in Greensboro, North Carolina. I shot this photo from the front row just a few feet away sitting in my folding chair. http://www.triadacousticstage.com Triad Acoustic Stage is a really cool series organized by dedicated volunteers led by Bill Payne. It is like going to see a house concert with 100 people where the sound is incredible and the show is always great.

Jim is one of those great players I first met at Merlefest several years ago while I was doing stage work there. He and I sat on a big road case watching Robert Plant and Buddy Miller from about 20 feet away – side stage. That was a show I will never forget. I was one of eight people there and the security was incredible. There were more sheriff deputies and NC State Troopers in the stage area than people working the stage.

Besides playing in bands like Hot Tuna and others, Jim is old friends with Buddy Miller and they have a weekly show on Sirius XM called The “Jim and Buddy Show.” They have written a long list of songs together and put together some great music.

Here is a video link for Jim and Buddy playing in a song I really like. It’s called “I Lost the Job of Loving You.” Until next time, I’ll see you, down the road.

It’s not always fun and games
You ride the wave
And people change
I guess you did
And I did too
I lost the job of loving you

We had a thing
We had a vibe
I made it like
A nine to five
Planned the wrong future through
I lost the job of loving you

You start to mix
Your work with play
All sorts of things
Get in the way
To cross that line
Into the blue
I lost the job of loving you
