If you ever went to a Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers concert in many of the last years of touring you would hear a prerecorded song start at about 8:00 PM. The hair would raise on your neck and a smile would come on your face as Jimmy and the band were getting ready to walk onstage. That song was “Hot, Hot, Hot” sung by David Johansen, the New York Dolls front man who just passed away from a battle with health issues. He was mostly known as his stage name Buster Poindexter. He left a lot of great memories for many. I’ll never forget those times with his soundtrack opening another night of fun. When I hear this track my mind just floods with so many memories of the Summer heat and all those 128 Jimmy Buffett shows I witnessed. Some might ask why I went to see JB perform so many times. My answer is “If you have to ask you will never understand.” Thank you David for your music. You will be missed but your music will stand for a long time.
