I remember riding around Philadelphia, Mississippi in my high school years listening to Bachman Turner Overdrive and loving the music. I remember my oldest, from first grade, and now late friend in the world who had a photographic memory, was an electronics genius, and virtuoso musician in the delta of Mississippi say one time that “Takin’ Care of Business” was one of the greatest songs in Rock and Roll music. I listened to the every Friday night live stream during the Covid times of Bachman and Bachman. That was so cool. Now this. Check it out:
Bachman-Turner Overdrive singer/guitarist Randy Bachman relaunched the veteran Canadian rock band with a new lineup in 2023, and now the group is set to release its first new single in almost 30 years. The song, titled “60 Years Ago,” is due out on March 28. The tune features a guest guitar solo by Bachman’s longtime friend, fellow Canadian rock legend Neil Young. In addition, founding BTO singer/bassist Fred Turner, who retired from touring in 2018, contributed vocals to the track.
“This song is our tribute to Winnipeg [Canada,] the place where we grew up as teenagers in the ’60s, a time when the city’s music scene was exploding,” Bachman explained in a statement. “It was the Liverpool of North America, a melting pot of incredible talents. Everyone I’ve talked to who spent time in Winnipeg and witnessed that musical explosion is excited to hear this song, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.” The new BTO touring lineup features Randy on lead vocals and guitar,Tal Bachman and Brent Knudsen on guitar, Koko Bachman on drums, and Lance Lapointe on bass.
“BTO has truly become a family band again,” Bachman said. “We sound better than ever. We’re playing all the hits, as well as diving deep into the album cuts, and the response from fans has been incredible. We can’t wait to … show off this powerhouse lineup. The BTO sound is BACK!!”
In addition to playing many classic Bachman-Turner Overdrive songs, the band also will be performing hits by Randy’s famous pre-BTO group, The Guess Who, on tour this year. (Yeah I love the Guess Who original music)
I still love this band! To Tal and Koko: Congrats on the new Bachman generation! (Thank you all for my shirt I love it)
