So I was in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jimmy Buffett Concert…At Walnut Creek where I have seen this band perform for many years, many times. I tell a story of a three day stand in Raleigh after a two day stand in Charlotte in the 1990’s where I was just exhausted after a third straight adventure in the crowd…this was my 90th show best I can remember from my notes……I am getting older but I am still here. So I had multiple pre-show passes as a result of all the work I do on an event in Key West and the people I know like the one in the next sentence. If it were not for Jimmy Buffett I would not know my long-time friend Jimmy Jeffreys who I have spent the afternoon with. We have been on adventures for over two decades….again today we are together….because of all this. The internet, the friends, the music. It is a good thing. So this picture? Jimmy Jeffreys was standing beside me as I took it. The guys in the picture are friends of so many people as they bring the relief of the working class escaping from the working day. But it is a real thing. When they come to Key West during PHiP’s Meeting of the Minds they come to meet everyone first hand because they enjoy it. We are all one. This is my 5th decade as a Buffett and Coral Reefer Band fan. We support them because they support us. I will stop at that. I really love these guys. We have all had so much fun and good times together so later this night 22,000 of us will have a good time with some good music. Long may we run.
“Long May You Run”
We’ve been through
some things together
With trunks of memories
still to come
We found things to do
in stormy weather
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.
Well, it was
back in Blind River in 1962
When I last saw you alive
But we missed that shift
on the long decline
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.
Maybe The Beach Boys
have got you now
With those waves
singing “Caroline No”
Rollin’ down
that empty ocean road
Gettin’ to the surf on time.
Long may you run.
Long may you run.
Although these changes
have come
With your chrome heart shining
in the sun
Long may you run.
