Steve Miller. I took this photo and a few others in Raleigh downtown. Not sure what I can add that is not already on the internet. This night was a good show. They played the hits very well. Vocals were good. The crowd was older but they were moving. And so it goes in 2017 as our rock hit makers age…
I should say I remember so many things about this music. I remember it on so many types of media as time passed. Record stores had vinyl albums…You could talk into a corner market and find Steve Miller music on 8 track and cassette tape. The plastic wrapped cases would be on the counter in a sale bin long after the “record stores” sold the music for full price. I can remember when Steve Miller was coming of age as a rock star. There was this 8 track tape of him playing “Your Cash Ain’t Nothing But Trash” and I thought that was the coolest thing ever. It has a blues vibe and I really liked it. I was staying at a friends house in the late 1970’s and we listened to that music all night long. It was a warm Summer night in Mississippi and I can remember it like it was yesterday. I remember when Steve came out will all the “effects” music…he has been with us through decades and he still draws a great crowd. I still enjoy all of his music.
Music history lesson…”Your Cash Ain’t Nothin’ But Trash was written by Jesse Stone and first released by “The Clovers” on 78 RPM record..Huey Lewis even recorded it…Steve Miller makes it his own….
