This week on the podcast Andrew is joined by the legendary blues guitarist and vocalist “Steady Rollin'” Bob Margolin. Bob was a longtime touring and recording member of the Muddy Waters Band during the latter part of Muddy Waters’ career from 1973-1980. During this time Bob worked with so many of the legends of blues and rock it would take more room than there is here to list his extensive resume. Bob is a solo artist and band leader who has recorded well over a dozen personal projects through time. He played on the original “Last Waltz Tour” with Muddy Waters and giants such as Levon Helm. The newest “Last Waltz” tour featuring some stellar talent that had a resurrection in 2016 and played to sold-out venues all over the country in 2019 until the tour was halted by the pandemic. I was fortunate to see a beginning segment of that tour at the 2016 Warren Haynes Christmas Jam in Asheville, North Carolina. More details of the awesome talent on this tour and possible upcoming tour can be found at: https://blackbirdpresents.com/concert/the-last-waltz-tour-2019/ Bob has won numerous awards and is a founding partner in The Vizztone Label Group. He is very active on the board of directors and as a musical director for the Pinetop Perkins Foundation. He travels and leads blues guitar workshops world-wide including the always sold-out sessions at Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch in Meigs County, Ohio. https://www.furpeaceranch.com/ Bob is an accomplished writer and never stops promoting the legacies of the blues music genre. Listen in to the podcast for this episode as we walk through the entire Grammy winning “I’m Ready” track list and explore time leading up to the recording of this project in late 1977 at Dan Hartman’s “School House” recording studio in Westport, Connecticut. From the “Last Waltz Movie” This show was held on Thanksgiving Day in 1976. A young Bob Margolin is shown on guitar right beside Muddy Waters. This show was recorded in the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. The Canadian-American rock group “The Band” was joined by a large group of special guests such as Bob Dylan, Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood and Neil Young to name a few! The event was filmed by director Martin Scorsese and made into a documentary which was released in 1978.
